About AirHIVE
From Rejection Emails to Real Innovation
A Problem-Solver at Heart
AirHIVE was founded not in a corporate boardroom, but out of necessity—and a deep-rooted desire to solve real problems.
After earning my degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, I entered the job market hopeful and ready to build. But like many graduates in 2024, I quickly ran into roadblocks. Despite my qualifications, most job postings turned out to be empty—a reality that taught me the importance of self-reliance and determination.
After the fifth rejection email that ended with, "We decided not to hire for this position," I made a decision: If no one else will hire me, I’ll hire myself.
I’ve always been drawn to understanding how things work. In high school, AP Physics sparked my curiosity. In college, I almost switched to accounting—but my free time was always spent tinkering, building, and problem-solving. That passion led me to engineering and ultimately to AirHIVE.
From PLCs to Smart Vents
My first entrepreneurial project aimed to bring new life to industrial automation—developing a retrofit data collection system for older PLCs. But I soon realized better solutions already existed.
That pivot brought me back to a personal problem: the frustration of living in a home with uneven temperatures.
I started small. I built a proof-of-concept system with a web app and an ESP32 microcontroller to collect real-time temperature data and adjust airflow. From there, I added more sensors, designed control logic, and 3D-printed the first functional prototype.
That’s how AirHIVE Smart Vents were born—to bring balance, efficiency, and control to every room without expensive system overhauls.
Betting on Myself (And Building Something That Helps)
Today, I’m working night shifts while developing AirHIVE during the day. This project is entirely bootstrapped, powered by late nights, early mornings, and a belief that technology should actually improve people’s lives.
I’m also focused on the future. One day, I hope to develop privacy-first smart home products—devices that operate entirely on local hardware, keeping your data in your hands.
Our Mission
At AirHIVE, our mission is simple: To create smart home technology that actually helps people—without compromising privacy or chasing excessive profits.
We believe that innovation should make life more comfortable and efficient, not more invasive or expensive.
That’s why we’re committed to building solutions that solve real problems, respect your data, and empower you to take control of your home.
